Although India has reached self-sufficiency in food production, the under nutrition continues to be major nutritional problem both in rural and urban, its prevalence among women in rural is very high. Dietary intakes of energy and protein of rural Indian mothers are known to be low (Bhatia et al 1981; Grover 1982; Hutter 1996; Vijayalaxmi et al 1988) and they are often engaged in high level of physical activity. OEFR foundation, promotes nutrition/kitchen garden at house level backyard spaces through women groups to grow various vegetable plants, mushroom production, backyard poultry to ensure daily harvest to feed their family. This is primarily to ensure nutritional security to the family with additional income.
